RADIO
For the last 3 years I have assisted Wildcat 91.9 at Kansas State University in a variety of roles, the station has provided me with valuable broadcasting and engineering experience, helping me learn to emphasize the importance of diversity in programming through sports, music, specialty shows and local initiatives that I have helped lead at the radio station.
During my time at Wildcat 91.9, the college radio station has served as a dynamic platform for students to gain hands-on broadcasting experience. With a focus on alternative and hip-hop music, the station offers a diverse range of programming that reflects the interests and creativity of its student DJs. In addition to music, 91.9 has featured new specialty shows every semester that cover local news, movies, sports, and cultural events, providing listeners with content that is both entertaining and informative.
In my role as Assistant chief Operator I have helped grow the station to become a crucial role in the university community by fostering a collaborative and multimedia environment where students can develop their skills in audio production, on-air presentation, and media management. Through our programming and outreach efforts, 91.9 has not only enhanced campus life but also prepares students for careers in media and communications. By emphasizing innovation, diversity and belongingness in its content, the station remains a vital part of the K-State experience, and I have enjoyed connecting students with the broader community through the power of radio and multimedia content creation.
